Rescue: Refugees and the Political Crisis of our Time
David Miliband is the former Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (2007-10) and current President and CEO of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) where he oversees the agency’s humanitarian relief operations in more than 40 war-affected countries and its refugee resettlement and assistance programmes in 28 United States cities. He is also the son of second world war refugees. His new book Rescue: Refugees and the Political Crisis of our Time (Simon & Schuster) is a call to action that takes us from war zones in the Middle East to the heart of Europe to explain the global refugee crisis and offers practical advice on what can be done, not just by governments with the power to change policy, but by citizens with the urge to change lives. Join him for a timely and unmissable event.
