As the Guardian’s restaurant critic and regular on MasterChef UK, Grace is expertly placed to take us on a tour of the foods we turn to behind closed doors – often deeply personal, nostalgic, joyous, and topped with a healthy dollop of guilty pleasure.

Author biography
Grace Dent is a columnist, broadcaster and author; she is the Guardian’s restaurant critic. She regularly appears on MasterChef UK and presents Best of Britain by the Sea with Ainsley Harriott. Dent was named Restaurant Writer of the Year at the 2022 Fortnum & Mason Food Awards; her memoir Hungry won the Lakeland Book Prize and the Fortnum Book Award. She hosts the podcast Comfort Eating, which has received over 2.5 million downloads and was named the Podcast of the Year at the 2022 British Media Awards.
Chair biography
Alex Clark is a broadcaster and journalist, who writes for many publications including the Guardian, the Observer, and the Times Literary Supplement. She is a co-host on the Graham Norton Book Club for Audible and hosts the TLS podcast. She is a professional chairperson and appears all over the UK at Cheltenham, Hay and the Southbank Centre. Alex is a festival honorary patron.
