For 23 years, the Cambridge Literary Festival has been platforming authors who explore the key issues of our time. We always aim to curate a programme full of writers and thinkers who are relevant for the moments we’re in.

Throughout the Summer months, as we’re experiencing yet another heatwave in the UK, we’re making the powerful conversation between John Vaillant and Robert Macfarlane available for you to watch, which is sadly just as relevant today as it was in 2024 when it was recorded. In this discussion, John and Rob examine hard questions around fossil fuels, divestment, and capital, and we hope that it will provide some insight and – if not reassurance – comfort that there are authors and thinkers out there who are doing good work in this area.
