What if climate change isn’t an environmental challenge, but an energy challenge? This is the provocative question posed by Dr Tim Gregory, nuclear chemist at the National Nuclear Laboratory, in his visionary new book Going Nuclear.

Gregory argues that the solution to climate change lies not only in moving away from fossil fuels, but in fully embracing the enormous potential of nuclear power: a carbon-free energy source that is safe, efficient and capable of meeting our needs at scale. He dismantles the conventional wisdom that renewables alone are “green” and “sustainable”, exposing the limitations of wind and solar power and their hidden fossil fuel dependencies. He also debunks the enduring myths around nuclear waste and radiation, showing how nuclear energy can be the most environmentally responsible way to power our future.

From advanced medicine and forensics to space exploration and even atomic gardening, Gregory reveals the boundless potential of the atom. Going Nuclear is a bold call for decarbonisation and a compelling vision of a sustainable and prosperous world powered by abundant clean energy.
