Sophie Raworth, one of the BBC’s main newsreaders, started running in her 40s. Since then, she has run all six World Marathon Majors and completed fifteen marathons and three ultra-marathons. Along the way, she has discovered new inner confidence, community and the power of friendship. Join Sophie as she shares how these have helped her through tough challenges, from losing loved ones and overcoming injuries, to interviewing the Prime Minister.

Author Biography

Sophie Raworth is one of the BBC’s main evening newsreaders, a presenter and journalist, and is well known as a marathon runner, regularly presenting and giving talks about her running adventures. She took up running in her 40s and now has a monthly column in Runner’s World.

Chair Biography

Catherine Carr is an award-winning documentary maker, presenter, podcast producer and reporter with over twenty years’ experience in audio. Carr worked as a reporter and producer for Woman’s Hour before leaving The BBC to create and produce Talking Politics. She hosted Where are You Going? Between 2014-2025 and presented and produced BBC Radio 4’s About the Boys. She recently released her first book, Who’s The Favourite?
