We currently have opportunities for two enthusiastic and experienced people to join our Board of Trustees on a voluntary basis. We’re looking for people with a strong knowledge of Arts Fundraising and Digital Strategy. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in strengthening the Festival’s long-term resilience while supporting an ambitious cultural programme and a small, dedicated team. Fundraising Trustee
We’re looking for a new Trustee to join our board with strong fundraising experience to help secure and grow the financial sustainability of the Festival. This Trustee will provide strategic oversight and support for income generation, philanthropy and development.
Voluntary role | Approx. 6 – 10 days per year | Cambridge / Hybrid
Digital Strategy Trustee
We’re looking for a new Trustee to join our board with expertise in digital strategy, publishing, technology or audience innovation to help shape the Festival’s digital development and future growth. This Trustee will support the organisation in strengthening its digital presence, audience engagement, and technological resilience in an increasingly hybrid landscape.
Voluntary role | Approx. 6 – 10 days per year | Cambridge / Hybrid
We’d particularly love to hear from digital candidates who also have a knowledge of publishing.

Our Head Stewards and Venue Managers are paid temporary members of the team. If you think that this is something you’d like to step up to, we’d love to hear from you.

Head Steward
Head Stewards manage our volunteers to ensure the smooth-running of events, they manage the queue and audience flow in and out of venues.
SPECIFIC TASKS
- Attend a festival briefing.
- Be familiar with the Festival Programme, the venue and facilities available.
- Be comfortable briefing volunteer stewards on festival procedures, and delegate tasks.
- Manage both the Friends and Public queues.
- Manage audience seating & accessibility requirements.
- Be familiar with rules around ticket types and entry eg. VIPs, press passes, Friends.
- Ensure the audience is seated prior to the event and that the venue is clear ahead of the next one.
- Support the Venue Manager with author requirements, AV & venue set-up.
- Manage the flow through the venue, including book signing
Rate: £12.50 per hour
Venue Manager
Venue Managers ensure the stage set-up, equipment, tech, props, artist and audience are ready in good time for the start of each performance.
SPECIFIC TASKS
- Attend a festival briefing.
- Be familiar with the Festival Programme, the venue and facilities available.
- Ensure the AV technician is briefed, has the correct technical set-up for each event.
- Communicate with the Artist Liaison to ensure the speakers arrive on time at the venue.
- If possible, run a soundcheck with speakers prior to filling up the venue, to test sound levels.
- Inform the Head Steward of event specifics ie. wheelchairs, book signings, reserved seats, accessibility needs.
- Control open house/shut doors. Late arrivals.
- Control when speakers take to the stage and exit the venue to book signing.
Rate: £12.50 per hour
