Is the Donald Trump presidency truly ‘unprecedented’, or is it more deeply American than we care to admit? In Made in America: The Dark History that Led to Donald Trump, veteran Radio 4 broadcaster and former Today presenter Edward Stourton offers a clear-eyed and provocative retelling of US history that challenges comforting myths about liberty and democracy.

Tracing a line from the intolerance of the early Pilgrims through territorial expansion, racism and the abuse of power, Stourton reveals how ideals of freedom have repeatedly been tested and betrayed. With forensic insight and journalistic authority, he places Trump firmly within a longer American tradition, rather than outside it. Join Ed for a gripping discussion of the dark side of the American Dream, and an urgent exploration of what this history can teach us about the turbulent political moment we face today.
