Baillie Gifford Prize Shortlist
The winner of this year’s coveted Baillie Gifford Prize was announced on the 24th November, but before it was, we hosted an event with the six shortlisted writers.
Aiming to reward the best of non-fiction, the Baillie Gifford Prize is open to authors of any nationality.
It covers all non-fiction in the areas of current affairs, history, politics, science, sport, travel, biography, autobiography, and the arts.
Formerly known as The Samuel Johnson Prize (1999–2015), it is the most prestigious non-fiction prize in the UK, worth £50,000 to the winner. In conversation with Alex Clark.
Content note: this event contains a discussion of rape, gang rape, gendered violence, sexual violence, and wartime violence.
